Spartanburg Soaring! Volunteers

Volunteers will be divided into certain colored-coded areas throughout the Festival. Upon arrival, please sign in with Janice Carpenter, our Volunteer Coordinator, who will be located at the Information Tent on North Liberty Street. After completing shift(s) volunteers should check out with Janice.

**Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your first shift**

**Volunteers may be subject to a background check**

**If there is rain on Saturday, April 21, 2018 and we chose to move the Festival to its rain date; Sunday, April 22, 2018 - Volunteers are requested to participate on Sunday, April 22, 2018**


Volunteer Zones Descriptions

Blue Volunteer Zone: VIP Parking
Volunteers will assist Chapman Cultural Center staff within the VIP parking lots.

Tasks will include but are not limited to:

  •  Checking VIP passes
  • Directing cars to spaces
  • Directing attendees to the information tent

Volunteers within the Blue Zone must be able stand for extended periods of time.

Yellow Volunteer Zone: Information Tent / Makers Market
Volunteers will assist Chapman Cultural Center staff with the Information Tent.

Tasks will include but are not limited to 

  • Handing out Soaring! Festival Programs and greeting guests.
  • Assist within the Markers Market by helping artists load and unload their supplies, helping set up their tents and tables, and assist artists with carrying artwork.

Volunteers within the Yellow Zone must be able to lift 25 lbs. and be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Green Volunteer Zone: East Fly Zone / Food Vendors
Volunteers will assist Chapman Cultural Center staff within the East Fly Zone.

Tasks will include but are not limited to: 

  • Picking up trash
  • Answering attendee's questions.
  • Assist Chapman Cultural staff within the Food Vendors Market; tasks will include but are not limited to, setting up tables and chairs, picking up trash, set up and clean up, and answering attendee’s questions. Volunteers within

The Green Volunteer zone must be able to lift 25 lbs. and walk through the East Fly zone.

Pink Volunteer Zone: West Fly Zone / Community Vendors / Kids Kite Activities
Volunteers will assist Chapman Cultural Center staff within the West Fly Zone.

Tasks will include but are not limited to: 

  • Picking up trash
  • Answering attendee's questions
  • Assisting Chapman Cultural Center staff within the Community Vending and Kid Kite Activities area.

Volunteers should be comfortable assisting children. Volunteers may be subject to a background test. Volunteers within the Pink Volunteer Zone must be able to walk through the West Fly zone. 

Red Volunteer Zone: Kite Repair*
**Requires a kite repair instruction course on Wednesday, April 18th, 2018 from 5:30-7:30 PM**.
Kite repair volunteers will assist attendees with repairing and mending their kites. Physical activity is required for this volunteer zone, volunteers in the Red Zone must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift 25 lbs. and walk to and from each Fly Zone.
