Request for Teaching Artist Proposals for the Chapman Cultural Center Early Childhood Initiative

Overview of the Early Childhood Initiative:

Research shows arts integration has a positive impact on kindergarten readiness and overall academic success.  The Early Childhood Initiative at Chapman Cultural Center seeks to provide Early Childhood Teachers (Pre-K) with training in implementing a creative arts curriculum.

The initial trainings will occur via a set of two 4-hour workshops on Saturday mornings in the summer.  The first in this series will focus on drama and visual arts integration; the second on dance/movement and music.  These workshops are designed to give teachers simple tools and ideas of how to integrate the arts daily (for instance, dramatic play at story time.)

What we are looking for:

We are seeking four teaching artists, one for each art form, to develop 90-minute lessons on arts integration for their discipline.  These lessons should provide participants with practical, concrete, and easily implemented strategies for arts integration in Preschool classrooms.

Eligibility Requirements:

-Experience with Pre-School Aged Students

-Experience with Adults Preferred

-Knowledge of Behavior Management Strategies

-Professional Artistic Training

-Ability and Interest in creating broad overviews of an artistic discipline with easily implemented integration techniques

Stipend and Time Commitment:

- Stipend to be Determined Based upon Experience

-Availability for 2 Teaching Artist Meetings; dates TBD

-Time to develop a 90-Minute lesson

Proposal Requirements:

-A lesson plan for the workshop

-2-3 References

-A letter of interest/Cover letter

-A CV/Resume

-Availability for an Interview

-Samples of past work with pre-school students in your arts discipline (photos, video, scripts, sample lessons etc)
