In recognition of World Mental Health Day, the USC Upstate Centers for Women’s and Gender Studies and African American Studies are excited to virtually host Dr. La Marr Bruce, Associate Professor of American Studies at the University of Maryland College Park.  Based on his newly published book How to Go Mad Without Losing Your Mind: Madness and Black Radical Creativity (Duke UP, 2021), Dr. Bruce will share analysis and insights explaining how black female musicians and artists used their creative voices to navigate emotional expression.  We hope that you (and your students!) will join us at 11:00am on October 14th, 2021.

Dr. Bruce’s talk will be hosted through Bb Collaborate.
