Putting the Art in Spartanburg
by Carrie Caldwell, Executive Director, Artists' Guild of Spartanburg
The Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg has been serving our community for over 60 years. Our little city has always been home to people who pursue artistic endeavors, but in recent years the number of artists in our community has grown. It is part of the Guild's mission to help these artists promote their work and we thoroughly enjoy helping them to do so! Here are a few ways we are doing so:
Art Walk
We host a reception every month during Art Walk to celebrate the artists who is showing in the Guild Gallery. But, did you realize that we are also partnering with the Montgomery Building to give several artists a space to display their work during Art Walk?
Stop by both locations between 5-8 pm on the third Thursday of each month to see the art, enjoy refreshments and speak with the artists!
A New Venue for Artists to Display
Speaking of the Montgomery Building, they have graciously offered us the use of the Arcade on the first floor of the building. The gorgeous stone walls provide the perfect backdrop for Guild artists work to hang. The Arcade provides enough space for several artists to show their work for a month at a time. Stop by, grab a drink from Pharmacy Coffee or a slice from Side Wall Pizza and peruse the art.
Annual Juried Show
Look for announcements on our social media pages and in your email inbox for information about the date of our Annual Juried Show! This event provides you with the chance to see a wide variety of top-notch work in our gorgeous gallery located in the Chapman Cultural Center.
Artists Going Live
This year’s annual fundraiser is going to be a hit! We are changing things up and hosting the event in the lobby of the Chapman Cultural Center on October 29th. The Halloween themed event will remain true to past Artists Going Live events, while incorporating some fun (and spooky) new details! Watch our social media for updates.
