Militia Day at Walnut Grove Plantation

Spartanburg, SC — Join Spartanburg County Historical Association (SCHA) and the South Carolina Independent Rangers on Saturday, May 23, for a day celebrating Walnut Grove's military history! The historic Plantation's tranquil setting belies the fact that it played an important role in America's War for Independence. The Rangers will perform firing demonstrations, and young visitors can participate in militia drills and even become honorary members! Militia day will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults and $1.50 for kids ages 5-17, or $6 for adults and $3 for kids with guided tour of the manor house, kitchen, and academy.
