Lunch & Learn: Brave Elizabeth Jackson

Spartanburg, SC — The women of the Revolutionary War were just as brave as the men! Join Sheila Ingle, an author dedicated to spreading the stories of women's acts of courage, for a discussion on heroines of the Revolution on Friday, May 22, 12:30-1:30 p.m. This talk will focus on South Carolina native Elizabeth Jackson, mother of Andrew Jackson, and her struggles raising three sons as a single mother during the Revolutionary War. Ingle's books include Brave Elizabeth, Courageous Kate, and Fearless Martha. She is a resident of Spartanburg and has lived in South Carolina her whole life. A retired educator from USC Upstate, she continues to teach through her writing. Lunch & Learns are held in the Callie and John Rainey Conference Room in the West Wing of Chapman Cultural Center. Catered lunches will be available by Palmetto Palate, reserved in advance through Spartanburg Regional History Museum’s gift shop.  Tickets and a limited number of lunches will be available at the door. $5/ticket only; FREE/SCHA Members. $15/ticket and sandwich or salad box (includes beverage and dessert).
