May 22: Deadline for Arts Grants

May 13, 2015 | Press Releases

Throughout the year, The Arts Partnership awards quarterly “Community Grants” to various local organizations and individuals who are pursuing a wide variety of arts-related projects. The next deadline to apply is May 22, 2015, for projects that will happen between July 1, 2015, and June 30, 2016.
The other deadlines are Aug. 21 (for Oct. 1, 2015-June 30, 2016); Nov. 20 (for Jan. 1, 2016-June 30, 2016); and Feb. 19, 2016 (April 1-June 30, 2016).
A new change to the process is that now individual artists may apply for up to $1,000.
The Community Grants Program invests general financial support in cultural projects impacting Spartanburg County communities. The Community Grants are funded in part by South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina. The grants program provides limited funding for cultural projects to nonprofit organizations and professional artists in Spartanburg County. Eligible cultural projects are those that actively engage the performing, visual, literary, or folk arts. The maximum grant amount per project is $1,000.
The kinds of cultural projects eligible for funding include, but are not limited to small or pilot cultural activities; new or developing programs; organizational development; professional development; established annual events that serve special needs of Spartanburg communities; and special projects of high artistic quality that meet one or more of The Arts Partnership’s goals. Additionally, the following types of projects are also eligible: public art; new commissioned works; community outreach; folk art; marketing projects; media and theatre productions; presentation of individual artists or ensembles; professional consultants; community activities that recur annually; small press publications; short-term installations; and staff salaries.
To apply, please visit and search “community grants.” If you have specific questions, please call Sandi Dupré at (864) 591-5600.
