Top 5 Things We're Excited for in 2020!

January 09, 2020 | Features

1) Mayfair Art Studios

It's not every day that you get to transform a 115-year-old mill into a modern arts center complete with co-working spaces for local artists including a maker space for ceramics and 3D art. In addition, it will house 2 dance studios, 8 rehearsal studios for musicians, and 11 annual artist studios. Mayfair Art Studios is almost ready to open and we can't wait! Learn more about the facility through its website! - http://www.mayfairartstudios.org/

2) Downtown Programming Returns

Our wonderfully received "Street Music Series" will be back in April! Even more exciting is we'll still be supporting more than just music this year! Downtown Programming will continue to feature the local musicians you love, but with some unconventional street performances too! Think live paintings, street dancers, improv, and maybe even a magic trick or two.

3) Spartanburg Soaring!

Always a Spartanburg Favorite, Spartanburg Soaring! returns for its 7th year in 2020! As always, we've taken your thoughts and feedback so we can make this year's festival better than ever! Mark your calendar for April 18, 2020, and click "Going" on our Facebook Event!

4) More Public Art!

In 2019, we saw the implementation of Creative Crosswalks in the Spartanburg Downtown Cultural District and we very excited to say that the Cleveland Park sidewalk mural is nearing completion! This year, we are thrilled to work with our community partners to continue to help make these projects happen and cannot wait to see what public art additions are in store for Spartanburg throughout 2020!

5) Youth Art Month

One of our most joyful programs throughout the year is the rotating youth art exhibits on display at the Coldwell Banker Caine Youth Art Gallery inside the Mosely Building at Chapman Cultural Center. Thousands of students all over Spartanburg County are recognized by having their art displayed in the halls of CCC each year. To celebrate their work and recognize the importance of arts education, CCC participates in Youth Art Month. YAM is a national celebration of youth artists, culminated by a reception where hundreds of students and their families descend on CCC to view their art and maybe experience the wonders of CCC for the very first time.
