The Zimmerli Plaza is the brick-paved, outdoor courtyard that connects the three buildings at the Chapman Cultural Center. On nice days, it is a gathering place for people to enjoy good weather and share artistic thought. Tables and chairs with shading umbrellas are provided for public use. Crepe myrtle trees and well-kept grass provide natural elements to the street-side setting. In the evenings, small white lights twinkle in the trees.
This outdoor space is often used during public events, providing a venue for musical entertainment, displays, and demonstrations. It is also available for rent for private functions and can be tented for receptions and galas. For more information, call Kathy Campbell, Event Coordinator at (864) 278-9688.
The plaza is named after retired businessman and arts benefactor Kurt Zimmerli, who provided the plaza’s funding when the Center was first constructed.
