Brimming with Opportunity
Chapman Cultural Center is home to various studios in which visual and performing artists and students can work, practice, and perform. Professionally led classes and demonstrations make these studios alive with cultural activities and opportunities year-round.
SAM Art Studio
Spartanburg Art Museum’s Art School offers a wide range of educational opportunities, from pottery to photography. The school is housed at Chapman Cultural Center on the second floor of the Montgomery Building (commonly called the West Building). The school is composed of two large studios, one for pottery and the other for visual arts. Classes for all ages are offered year-round. Visit the Events Calendar to learn more.
COLORS Art Studio
COLORS Inner-City Youth Art Studio, founded in 1993, is a program of the Spartanburg Art Museum. The studio’s mission is to improve the lives, choices, and opportunities available to at-risk youth by providing safe and creative meeting places during the critical after-school hours, thereby creating successful, productive members of our community. The program is income-based and students must meet the necessary income requirements. COLORS works with children ages 6-18 and has several outreach sites in Spartanburg County at various schools and community centers. The studio is open Monday-Thursday from 3-6 p.m. Students can come into the studio on a drop-in basis. They paint, draw, or work with clay using professional materials under the tutelage of local professional artists. COLORS serves hundreds of students every year.
