Chapman Cultural Center’s Black Box Theatre is classic in its design: It is a large and simple square room with no permanent fixtures, other than the overhead theatrical lighting system. The walls, ceiling, and floor are painted flat black. Mirrors cover one wall, however, black drapes can cover the mirrors, as well as the other three walls. It is a perfect setting for experimental and intimate performances, where moveable staging and seating can be arranged to suit the minimalist need. The Black Box Theatre is in the basement of the David Reid Theatre, near the offices and dressing rooms of Spartanburg Little Theatre and Spartanburg Youth Theatre. It is most often used as rehearsal space by Spartanburg Little Theatre and Spartanburg Youth Theatre, but it has been used for small educational productions and private functions. Its use is only limited by your imagination.
